Ecco il messaggio che il Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella, ha inviato al Presidente eletto della Repubblica Francese Emmanuel Macron. Macron succede al socialista Nicolas Hollande che a sua volta aveva preso il posto di Nicolas Sarkozy.
«In occasione della sua elezione alla Presidenza della Repubblica Francese desidero porgerle, a nome dell’Italia e mio personale, le più vive congratulazioni per la vittoria elettorale e i migliori auguri di pieno successo nello svolgimento del suo alto mandato.
La sua elezione alla presidenza costituisce una prova di fiducia nel futuro e un segnale di adesione all’ideale dell’integrazione continentale. Un segnale particolarmente importante perché giunge a poche settimane dal vertice dei Capi di Stato e di Governo che a Roma hanno celebrato il 60mo anniversario dei Trattati istitutivi dell’Unione Europea.
Francia e Italia sono adesso chiamate a fornire un contributo deciso, concreto e lungimirante all’essenziale processo di rilancio della nostra comune casa europea. è responsabilità dei nostri Paesi, membri fondatori dell’UE, fornire nuove energie e nuovi impulsi che permettano di realizzare il sogno dei padri fondatori, rispondendo alle esigenze dei nostri cittadini e affermando nel mondo la voce dell’Europa unita. Solo nel solco di questa tradizione, che comprende anche la comune appartenenza all’Alleanza atlantica, potremo superare le sfide sempre più complesse poste alle nostre società.
I nostri Paesi sono accomunati da legami storici, culturali, umani, politici ed economici unici in Europa per intensità e dinamismo. Sono certo che nel corso del suo mandato troveremo molteplici opportunità per valorizzare tali antichi vincoli, fondamento insostituibile dei rapporti bilaterali e sicura fonte di ispirazione per un loro ulteriore rafforzamento.
In attesa di incontrarla a Taormina in occasione del vertice G7, e con l’auspicio di accoglierla quanto prima in visita a Roma, colgo l’occasione per rinnovarle, a nome dell’Italia e mio personale, le più sincere felicitazioni e sentiti auguri di benessere per la sua persona e per l’amico popolo francese».

The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President-elect of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron:
«On the occasion of your election as President of the French Republic, on behalf of myself and of all the Italian people, allow me to express my most heartfelt congratulations for your electoral victory and the best wishes for complete success in performing your important mandate.
Your election to the presidency constitutes proof of the confidence for the future and a signal of adhering to the ideal of continental integration. It is a particularly important signal because it comes only a few weeks after the summit of the Heads of State and Government who, in Rome, celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Treaties establishing the European Union.
France and Italy are now called upon to make a decisive, concrete and far-sighted contribution to the fundamental process of relaunching our common European Home. It is the responsibility of our Countries, the founding members of the EU, to give new energy and new impulse towards achieving the dream of the founding fathers, meeting the needs of our citizens and affirming the voice of a united Europe in the world. Only in the light of this tradition, which also includes our common belonging to the Atlantic Alliance, will we be able to overcome the ever-more complex challenges faced by our societies.
Our Countries are bound by historical, cultural, human, political and economic ties that are uniquely intense and dynamic within Europe. I am certain that, in the course of your mandate, we will find numerous opportunities to build on these age-old ties, an irreplaceable foundation for our bilateral relations and a sure source of inspiration for their further reinforcement.
While looking forward to meeting you in Taormina at the G7 Summit, and wishing to welcome you soon during your first visit to Rome, I take this opportunity to renew, on behalf of myself and of Italy, my sincerest congratulations and heartfelt wishes for your personal wellbeing and for that of our friends, the people of France.»
